Lake Fred

Lake Fred is an actual lake located in the flat pinelands of southern New Jersey. It is also one of my knicknames acquired while I was at college. There is (or was) a Lake Fred Folk Festival in the springtime.

My Old Office Building - Still Katrina Damaged

Here's some pictures of the building I used to work in before Katrina. From a distance it looks fine, but the second photo shows the lack of repair. These pictures were taken on September 25, 2006, the day of the Saints-Falcons game on Monday Night Football. The ramp and the bridge in the first photo lead to the Superdome which is just off the picture to the left. It is sad, that a year after Katrina, a relatively new building, adjacent to the Superdome is still not repaired.

Pink, I graduated from Stockton and each spring, they had a Lake Fred Folk Festival with various folk musicians. It was great. I bought T-shirts at each festival and wore them when I played softball in grad school at Tulane. The guys started calling me Lake Fred. My last year in Tulane I wrote a column for the B-school newspaper called "The Lake Fred Column." The name has stuck with me over the years.

I found your hibiscus photos on Flickr, and wondered if I might use one or two for a story on Cajun Hibiscus.
