Lake Fred

Lake Fred is an actual lake located in the flat pinelands of southern New Jersey. It is also one of my knicknames acquired while I was at college. There is (or was) a Lake Fred Folk Festival in the springtime.

Crown Of Bohemia

This is one of our favorite hibiscus cultivars. This bloom is considered to be a common garden variety. We find it to be an equisite addition to the garden. In the summer months it blooms as a solid yellow butterball type double bloom. In the cooler months, a magnificent orange color highlights the blooms which can come in a variety of shapes. These two photos of April 2005 blooms show a simple single format, ideal for hybridyzing, and a classic "cup and saucer" bloom. We had a couple of these bushes planted in the ground and they survived Katrina's wind and floodwaters.
